EMPANADAS
Flour, 1 Kg
Butter, 200 gr.
Vegetable grease, 150 gr.
Egg, 1
Sugar, 1 tablespoon
Salt, 1 teaspoon
Beef, 1 kg.
Onion, 2 big ones
Paprika, 1 tablespoon
Crushed red pepper, salt, pepper 1 teaspoon
Dry raisins, 100 gr.
Hard boiled eggs, 3
Olives, 100 gr.
Warm water
Dough
Whip the egg, add the butter, the melted grease, the sugar, salt, warm water, and mix them altogether. Put the flour in a bowl and add the mixture slowly, until you get a smooth dough, not too hard and not too soft. Separate the dough in two, and cover with a bowl. Allow it to rest for 20 minutes.
Filling
Cut the meat in small cubes, or use ground beef. Put it in a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of hot water, salt and pepper.
Put two tablespoons of oil and three tablespoons of butter in a pot. Chop the onions and add them to the pot. Cook the mixture for a few minutes. Add the crushed red pepper and the meat and continue cooking while stirring the mixture.
Spread the dough until you obtain a thin layer. Cut it in discs, put the mixture in the middle and add the raisins, pieces of hard-boiled eggs and olives. Close the pocket, put it on a pan and bake it at 450 F.
